Eating Disorders
Therapy is the place where it can be all about you.
I help those experiencing disordered eating behaviors and eating disorders—including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARIFD (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder), orthorexia, and OSFED (other specified feeding or eating disorder).
Some signs you may deal with disordered eating can include:
Feeling terrified at the thought of gaining weight
Being mentally preoccupied with thoughts of food or your body
Lying to loved ones about when or how much you have eaten
Feeling extremely guilty after eating
Struggling to eat due to a fear something bad will happen
Significant difficulty eating certain foods or food groups
Feeling out of control with food
Significant aversion to certain tastes or textures
My approach
I use parts work, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, DBT techniques, and somatic techniques to help you gain clarity and build a life worth living. I operate from a fat-positive and HAES (health at every size) perspective, which means that healthcare is a human right regardless of your body size, your body size does not determine your health, and all people deserve the tools to support their wellbeing and healing in a way that is sustainable for them.
The thought of opening up to someone new about your fear of food and how it consumes much of your day can feel overwhelming. But with the help of a professional who can compassionately help you navigate this difficult time, you don’t have to go through it alone.
