Support for Loved Ones
Having a loved one who has an eating disorder can be hard. Maybe they are going to therapy, maybe not right now. You might be feeling unsure how to support them—or yourself.
Caring for a loved one with an eating disorder can mean that you are providing a lot of emotional care. You might also have conflicting demands between your loved one, your job, and all of your other relationships. All of this combined with never really being sure how much you are helping can result in caregiver burnout.
You matter, too.
Signs of caregiver burnout when caring for someone with an eating disorder can include:
Feeling down or hopeless
Withdrawing from your normal activities
Decreased empathy towards your loved one with an eating disorder
Resentment towards your loved one
Sense of helplessness
Neglecting your self care
You can’t pour from an empty cup. You deserve a place where you can process the ups and downs of loving someone who has an eating disorder in a safe, supportive space while receiving guidance along the way.
