• I accept Aetna and United Healthcare.

If you don’t have either of those insurances, the out-of-pocket rate for a 50-53min session is $125.

Even if you don’t have Aetna or United, your insurance may have out-of-network benefits that could reimburse you. Many insurance companies cover between 50-70% of the cost for each session.

Your session fee not only accounts for our time in therapy, but also: my collaboration with the rest of your care team, completing continuing education in specialized areas, and attending supervision to show up as my most skilled self for you.

  • Call your insurance company and ask the following questions:

    • Does my plan provide out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health visits? Not all plans cover this, so you want to double check.

    • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health? This will tell you how much you need to spend before your benefits take effect.

    • How much of my out-of-network deductible have I met so far? For example, if your out-of-network deductible is $2,000 and you’ve spent $1,500 so far, you’ll need to spend another $500 for your benefits to kick in.

    • What is my coinsurance? After the deductible is met, coinsurance is what you owe for each service. Let’s say you have a 30% coinsurance and your session is $125. This means your insurance will reimburse you for 70% of the session, and you owe 30%. You pay $125 up front, and get reimbursed $87.50. Your true session cost is $37.50.

    • What amount is reimbursed for the codes 90834 (38-52 minute individual therapy session) and 90837 (53-60 minute individual therapy session)? The amount you are reimbursed for these sessions can depend on your plan.

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network? If so, your referral may need to come from your PCP. This can sometimes be as simple as messaging your PCP to ask for a referral.

    • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement? I will provide you with a superbill, which is like a receipt for your therapy services. You need to submit this superbill to your insurance company to get reimbursed.

  • You can either:
    1) set up a free consultation call here, 2) call, text, or 3) email me.

We’ll chat about your therapy preferences and goals (if you have them—if not, no problem!) during a 15min phone call. This is completely free and no strings attached. If you are interested in scheduling your first therapy appointment and we are a good fit, we will set it up.

Then you start therapy! Go ahead and celebrate this impressive self care.

  • You certainly can. In fact, those who do not make art on their own can still end up enjoying art therapy and receiving benefits from it. You do not need to have any art experience in order to benefit from art therapy. Your art also does not need to look "realistic".

Ultimately, the most important aspects of art therapy are what type of experience you have while making it, and the thoughts you have about your artwork. As an art therapist, I will ask you thoughtful questions to help you reflect on your artwork and what it means to you.

  • Art therapy is never required in our sessions. My goal is to tailor our sessions to your specific wants and needs.
